Q4 Prep for FBA Sellers: Health Products to Stock for the January Rush
It feels a bit early to be talking about January when the clocks haven't even gone back, but if you sell on Amazon, October is when January is won or lost. The first few weeks of the New Year bring a wave of people determined to get healthier. They start new diets, cut back on sugar and alcohol, and plenty of them buy something to keep track of their progress at home.
The catch is timing. Your stock needs to be sitting in an Amazon fulfilment centre before that demand arrives, and Amazon's inbound network gets very busy from late October onwards. Leave it until December and there's a real risk your units are still waiting to be checked in when sales peak.
In September we looked at the best ADTUK products for selling on Amazon FBA, along with who qualifies for wholesale and how to get started. If you're new to FBA, that's the place to begin. This post picks up where it left off, with four product lines that sell well in January and a realistic timeline for getting them into Amazon before the peak season cut-off.
Why January is a big month for home health tests
Health sits at the top of a lot of New Year resolution lists, and people like having a number to work towards. The bathroom scales only tell part of the story, so buyers go looking for something more specific. Am I actually in ketosis? Has my cholesterol come down? Is my blood sugar steadier now I've given up the biscuits? A home meter answers those questions, and it's an easy thing to buy when motivation is at its highest.
It isn't a one week spike either. Meters need strips, and anyone still testing in February and March will come back for refills. If your listings are in stock and ranking well in January, you're in a good position to pick up those repeat orders too.
Worth knowing: The meter starts the relationship, but the strips keep it going. When you plan your January order, think about refills as well as meters so you don't run out of the item customers come back for.
Ketone meters for keto dieters
Keto and low carb diets have a big January following, and the people doing them properly want to know they're in ketosis rather than guessing. A blood ketone meter is the most popular way to check at home.
The On Call GK Dual Blood Glucose and Ketone Meter is £8.00 and measures both blood ketones and blood glucose in mmol/L, which suits keto dieters who want to watch both. One thing to plan for is that the meter pack doesn't include strips, lancets or a lancing device. It uses On Call Ketone Blood Test Strips (£15.00 for a vial of 25) and On Call Chosen Blood Glucose Strips (£16.60 for 50), so most sellers list it as a ready to use bundle rather than a meter on its own.
The strips are where the repeat business sits. Someone testing every morning will get through a 25 strip vial in less than a month. For customers who already own an eBketone meter, we also stock eBketone Blood Ketone Test Strips in refill packs of 10 at £14.00.
Cholesterol meters for heart health resolutions
After a winter of rich food, plenty of people start the year promising to look after their heart. Some will have had a nudge from their GP, others just want to know where they stand. A cholesterol meter lets them check in at home between appointments.
For buyers who want the fuller picture, the ALLTEST 5 in 1 Cholesterol Meter (£52.00) gives total cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, calculated LDL and the TC/HDL ratio from a single finger prick, with results in around two minutes. The starter pack comes with strips, lancets and everything needed for the first few tests, and refills are available as ALLTEST Cholesterol Strips at £14.00 for 10 tests.
At the more affordable end, EasyLife Blood Meters start at £29.00. The EasyLife Plus GCU (£33.00) tests glucose, cholesterol and uric acid, while the GCHb (£29.00) tests glucose, cholesterol and haemoglobin. Both starter packs only include two cholesterol strips, so if you're marketing them as cholesterol testers, add a vial of EasyLife cholesterol strips (£13.00 for 10) so your customers aren't left short after their second test.
Glucose meters for blood sugar checks
Cutting back on sugar is one of the most common January goals, and a blood glucose meter is a cheap, simple way for people to see what's actually happening. Glucose meters also sell steadily all year to people who already monitor their blood sugar, which makes them a safe line to hold a little extra of.
At the time of writing, the On Call Plus II Blood Glucose Meter is £6.00 and On Call Plus II strips are £5.80 for 50, which makes for a very competitively priced starter bundle. The eBwell Blood Glucose Meter and Strips start from £8.00, and the EasyLife meters above cover glucose too, for customers who'd rather have several tests in one device.
Vitamin D tests from £2
Vitamin D is the winter story. In the UK the sun isn't strong enough for our bodies to make much of it between October and early March, and NHS advice is for everyone to consider a daily vitamin D supplement through autumn and winter. That leaves a lot of people wondering whether they're running low, and January is when many of them decide to find out.
The ALLTEST Vitamin D Test Kit starts at just £2.00 for the home self-test version. It uses a small finger prick blood sample, gives a result in about 10 minutes and comes with a colour card showing whether levels look deficient, insufficient or sufficient. At that price it works as a standalone listing, a multipack, or a low cost add-on to any of the meters above.

Working back from Amazon's peak season cut-off
Amazon's peak season inbound dates are arrival dates. Your stock has to physically reach the fulfilment centre by then, not just be on a lorry heading there. For Black Friday Week, Amazon's recommended arrival date for UK stock is 28 October, although the exact cut-off can vary depending on the inbound placement option you choose, so check the date that applies to your shipment in Seller Central.
That date matters for January too. Once the Black Friday stock lands, fulfilment centres stay busy right through Christmas and receiving can slow down. Sending your January lines in alongside your Black Friday stock is the safest way to make sure they're live and Prime eligible when the New Year rush starts.
Here's roughly how it works when you order through us:
| Step | What happens | Time to allow |
| Order and payment | Place your order online and pay by BACS bank transfer or card | Stock is usually held for around two working days while a bank transfer clears |
| Barcode labelling | We apply your Amazon barcode labels to every unit | 48 to 72 hours from receipt of payment and your label file |
| Collection | You book an Amazon partner carrier using the carton details we send, then email us the shipping labels | Depends on carrier availability, which tightens in peak season |
| Delivery and check-in | Amazon receives your stock and makes it available to sell | Allow extra time in late October and November |
Put it all together and it makes sense to have your order with us by mid-October if you're aiming for a 28 October arrival. Sooner is better, as carriers get busier at this time of year too.
Keep an eye on peak fees and storage
Stocking up early isn't free. Amazon's festive peak fulfilment fee applies to selected UK FBA orders from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027, so your first fortnight of January sales will still carry it. Items on Low-Price FBA rates are exempt, which is worth checking if you list single vitamin D tests. Monthly storage fees are also higher from October to December.
None of that is a reason to sit the season out, but it is a reason to be sensible about quantities. Send in enough to cover January, then top up in the New Year once Amazon's network has calmed down, rather than shipping in everything you hope to sell by spring.
A few checks before you send stock in
- Bundles need their own listing: If you're pairing a meter with strips, the bundle needs its own ASIN and its own barcode. Our September post on selling with Amazon FBA covers creating new listings.
- Some lines have extra requirements: To sell EasyLife strips on Amazon, your seller account needs 12 months of feedback, with UK VAT and company registration listed.
- Stick to the intended use: These are monitoring and screening products, so keep your listing claims in line with what each test is designed to do and steer clear of anything that sounds like diagnosis or treatment.
- Plan around expiry dates: Strips and test cassettes are dated, so match your quantities to what you can realistically sell.
Get your stock labelled and ready for Amazon
The easiest way to hit the cut-off is to let us handle the labelling. Our Amazon FBA barcode labelling service costs £0.25 per label for stock bought from ADTUK for FBA sales. Add the matching number of labels to your order, email your label PDF (27 labels per A4 page) to trade@adtuk.co.uk, and we'll label every unit in our Norfolk warehouse. Once it's done, we send you the carton sizes and weights so you can book collection with an Amazon partner carrier.
Your stock goes from our shelves into the Amazon network without a detour through a prep centre, which saves time when every day before the cut-off counts.

January demand for home health tests is about as predictable as retail gets, which makes it one of the easier peaks to plan for. The sellers who do well are usually the ones who get organised in October. Pick your lines, order refills alongside your meters, and get everything labelled and booked in before 28 October, and you'll go into the New Year with stock ready to sell.
